Nicosia’s Municipal Theatre recently hosted a profound performance of Byzantine chant and sacred music, a timely event coinciding with the eve of the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary and preceding the solemnity of Holy Week. This spiritual offering featured the esteemed Archimandrite Father Nikodimos Kavarnos alongside the Spyros Kapsaskis choir, under the direction of Andreas Pantelides, providing a moment of contemplation and tradition. A list of pharmacies operating through the night on Tuesday, March 24th, was published to ensure the public could obtain necessary medications outside of standard hours. Furthermore, a new seasonal pharmacy scheme has been introduced, a directive that came into effect in January. This initiative is designed to cater to the heightened demand in tourist locales during the summer months. Under this scheme, designated pharmacies in key tourist areas, including parts of Famagusta, Limassol, and Larnaca, will extend their operating hours until 11 p.m. daily throughout the summer season. To qualify, these pharmacies must maintain a minimum opening time of 6:30 p.m. during winter and 7:30 p.m. in summer, and are required to close for a minimum of six consecutive weeks in winter. This strategic rollout aims to bolster pharmaceutical services in high-traffic tourist zones without compromising the availability of year-round services in urban centres. The Cyprus Pharmaceutical Association, through its president Ploutarchos Georgiadis, has indicated that approximately fifteen pharmacies are expected to participate in this new scheme, a move anticipated to significantly benefit both tourists and local communities during peak periods.
