The most substantial penalties are reserved for those who advance further into the intersection beyond the pedestrian crossing, or past the mandatory stop line in areas devoid of pedestrian crossings, when confronted with a red light. These more egregious violations will attract a €300 fine, also carrying three penalty points on the driver's licence.
