Empowering Portraits Unveil Para-Athletes' Triumphs at Limassol's Molos

Limassol's scenic Molos waterfront has been artfully transformed into a captivating open-air gallery, now hosting the profoundly impactful photographic exhibition titled "Yes, I Can." This striking display, a collaborative initiative involving the Kateryna Biloruska Foundation, the Cyprus National Paralympic Committee, and the Municipality of Limassol, aims to illuminate the remarkable achievements of fifteen Cypriot para-athletes. Having previously been showcased at Larnaca Airport's arrivals hall, the exhibition now invites both residents and visitors to contemplate the indomitable spirit and profound capabilities of these exceptional individuals.

The exhibition features large-format portraits, meticulously captured by photographers Michalis Antoniou and Giorgos Charalambous, showcasing athletes who demonstrate excellence in disciplines such as para-swimming, archery, athletics, and wheelchair tennis. Beyond merely documenting their sporting prowess, the collection delves deeply into the human element of professional para-sports, highlighting the unwavering determination, resilience, and sheer triumph that define their inspiring journeys. The overarching objective is to serve as a potent reminder of the imperative for Limassol to actively foster an environment of genuine accessibility and inclusivity for all its citizens.

An official opening ceremony, attended by prominent government officials including Mayor Yiannis Armeftis and Andreas Georgiou, President of the Cyprus National Paralympic Committee, underscored the exhibition's considerable significance. Mayor Armeftis articulated the initiative's substantial value, stating, "Hosting the ‘Yes, I Can’ exhibition at the Molos area is a meaningful initiative for our city." He further elaborated, "It is not only an exhibition of powerful photography but also a reminder of the importance of building a truly accessible and inclusive city for everyone.” Following the formal proceedings, an inclusive basketball session was held, effectively embodying the spirit of participation and barrier-breaking that the exhibition champions.

Kateryna Biloruska, the visionary founder of the Kateryna Biloruska Foundation, expressed her earnest hopes for the exhibition's lasting impact. "Through these portraits, we celebrate the human dignity and the universal language of sport," she remarked. "We want every person, regardless of their challenges, to look at these stories and say with confidence: Yes, I can." This deeply resonant sentiment encapsulates the exhibition's core message: that perceived limitations can indeed be transmuted into extraordinary avenues for accomplishment.
