Cyprus Passport Ranks High for Travel

Cyprus is a very travel-friendly country. This is according to the 2026 Henley Passport Index. The country's passport is now 14th in the world. Cypriot citizens can visit 174 places without a visa. This high ranking shows Cyprus wants to help its citizens travel easily. It has good relationships with other countries.

The index looks at passports from almost 200 countries. Cyprus kept its place from last year. However, the global passport power has changed a lot. Some countries are now much higher. Others that were strong are now lower. The world of travel is changing.

Singapore is still number one. Its citizens can go to 192 places without a visa. Japan and South Korea are tied for second place. They offer access to 188 countries. These countries have strong diplomatic ties. This helps their citizens travel more easily.

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has moved up a lot. Its passport is much stronger now. It has risen 57 places since 2006. This is because of its good foreign policy. UAE citizens can now visit 149 more places visa-free.

Some powerful countries are now lower. For example, the UK passport is less powerful. UK citizens lost access to eight places. The US passport is also lower. It is now in tenth place. Its visa-free access has decreased.

These changes are important. For Cyprus, a strong passport means easy travel. Cypriot citizens have good global mobility. For the UK and US, lower rankings might mean they need to change their policies. They may need better travel agreements.

The Henley Passport Index is important. It shows us global travel freedom. It also tells us about international relations. Foreign policy decisions can really affect people's lives. A passport shows a country's influence.
