Crane Collapse Kills 32 in Thailand

A terrible accident happened in northeastern Thailand. A large construction crane fell onto a moving train. At least 32 people died. Many others were hurt. The accident happened on Wednesday morning. It has made many people very sad. People are now asking about safety at big building sites.

The train was going from Bangkok to Ubon Ratchathani. It was in Nakhon Ratchasima province. Witnesses heard loud noises before the crane fell. Small pieces of concrete fell first. Then the big crane came down. It hit the train with great force. Some train cars were crushed. One car was cut in half. Another car caught fire.

Rescue workers came quickly to help. However, leaking chemicals from the site stopped them for a short time. Police chief Thatchapon Chinnawong said this was for safety. There were 171 passengers on the train. After the crash, 66 people went to the hospital. Seven people are still in serious condition.

The crane was part of a new high-speed train project. This project will connect Thailand and China. The company building the site is Italian-Thai Development Company. Now, this company is being investigated. Thai railways wants to take legal action. Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul also wants answers. He wants the company to be responsible.

Everyone is shocked by this tragedy. Survivors told very sad stories. This accident is a big loss of life. It also hurts the important train project. Investigations will try to find out why the crane fell. The goal is to stop similar accidents in the future. Safety is very important for big construction projects.
