Crane Accident Kills 22 in Thailand

A big accident happened in Thailand yesterday. A large construction crane fell onto a passenger train. This happened in Nakhon Ratchasima province. The train was part of a new high-speed rail project. The accident caused the train to crash. It also started a fire. Sadly, at least 22 people died. Another 80 people were hurt.

The crash happened around 9 AM. It stopped the morning trains. Emergency workers came quickly. A witness, Mitr Intrpanya, heard a loud noise. Then he heard two explosions. He saw the huge crane on the train. It had broken one of the train cars. The crane was very heavy.

Rescue workers tried to free people from the train. It was a difficult job. Many people were trapped. Officials worked hard to help the injured. Police chief Thatchapon Chinnawong said hospitals were busy. They were checking on people who were very sick.

The crane was for a big project. It is a US$5.4 billion high-speed rail line. This project is part of China's "Belt and Road" plan. It will connect Bangkok and China. The crane falling raises questions. People are worried about safety rules. They want to know if construction is safe.

This sad event has shocked Thailand. It shows the dangers of big building projects. Rescuers are still working. Investigators will soon look into why the crane fell. Many lives were lost. Many people are injured. This reminds us that safety is very important. We do not yet know all the results of this disaster.
