First Lady Resigns from Charity Roles

First Lady Philippa Karsera Christodoulides has resigned from her leadership roles in charities. This includes her position as head of the Independent Social Support Agency (AFKS). She made a statement on Sunday. She said she is responding to online comments. These comments were about her and her family. This shows a problem with online bullying.

Mrs. Christodoulides led AFKS since last March. She said that false accusations made her leave. She wrote on social media that she was very upset. She spoke about "unrelenting attack" and "defamatory comments." These affected her and her family. She also left other charity positions. She said this protects her family's reputation.

The First Lady said she still wants to help people. However, the online discussion became too much. This happened after new budget plans and scholarship programs. She said her role as First Lady should not cause false claims. Mrs. Christodoulides is also getting legal advice. She wants to stop the online harassment.

The AFKS management committee will meet on Monday. They will accept her resignation. Her decision highlights the harm of online defamation. It is a big problem for public figures. It shows how difficult it is to manage online attacks. The First Lady believes good work is about helping others. It is not about having official titles.
