The United States military attacked ISIS targets in Syria on Saturday. This happened after ISIS militants attacked American soldiers on December 13th. The operation was called "Operation Hawkeye Strike." US Central Command said over 90 bombs hit more than 35 ISIS places. This showed a big and planned answer.
The attack started near the old city of Palmyra in Syria. ISIS militants attacked there. Sadly, American lives were lost. The Defence Secretary, Pete Hegseth, called it a "declaration of vengeance." Centcom also warned ISIS. They said, "If you hurt our soldiers, we will find you and kill you."
Many planes were used in the attacks on Saturday. More than 20 aircraft were involved. These included F-15E fighters and drones. Allied forces also helped. Jordanian F-16 jets joined the attack. This showed they are united against ISIS.
Operation Hawkeye Strike is ongoing. Before Saturday, there was another attack on December 19th. It hit ISIS buildings and weapons. On December 30th, US forces stopped about 25 ISIS fighters. These actions are to stop ISIS from operating and to hurt their leaders.
We do not know how many ISIS members were hurt by Saturday's strikes. However, the goal is clear. The US wants to stop ISIS from attacking again. They want to scare the group. The US government has a strong policy. They will not allow terrorism against Americans. This attack shows their commitment. They will use force to protect soldiers. They will fight terrorism everywhere.
