Guinea's Military Leader Becomes President

Mamady Doumbouya is now Guinea's president. He won the election held recently. The election results were announced on Tuesday. Doumbouya received 86.72% of the votes. About 80.95% of people voted. He was already leading the country after a military takeover. Now, he is the elected leader. However, some people did not agree with the election.

This election is important for Guinea. The country has had problems with stability and money. Doumbouya took power from Alpha Condé. Condé was the first elected president. Doumbouya promised to return power to civilians by 2024. This election seems to change that plan.

The election was not easy for everyone. Some important opposition leaders could not run. Many groups asked people not to vote. They called it a "joke election." They said many people did not vote on purpose. Other candidates also said there were problems. They called it "election cheating."

But the numbers show many people voted for Doumbouya. He won a lot of votes in the capital city. He also won in other parts of the country. The head of the election commission confirmed these results. The election is now finished.

Doumbouya's win means he has more power. His supporters believe he can help the country. However, his critics worry about freedom. They say there are fewer rights now. They also mention arrests and people leaving the country. The world will watch Guinea. They will see if democracy and rights improve. Doumbouya won many votes. But the election was difficult. It shows the country has big disagreements.
