Lebanese Army Takes Control in Southern Lebanon

The Lebanese army has now taken charge of security in southern Lebanon. This area was previously controlled by Hezbollah. The government wants to disarm groups that are not part of the army. This is happening after a ceasefire agreement. The first part of this plan is finished. However, Israel and the United States are watching carefully. They want to see if the disarmament will be effective.

For a long time, Hezbollah was in charge south of the Litani River. This is an important area next to Israel. The Lebanese army is now showing its power. This shows the government wants to be in control. It also helps with worries about armed groups in the area. The plan is to remove weapons and fighters who are not allowed. People have different ideas about this plan.

This news comes as fears grow about more fighting between Israel and Hezbollah. The United States has asked Lebanon to limit Hezbollah's power. Some reports say Hezbollah is getting new weapons from Iran. This makes Israel worried. Israel has taken action against Hezbollah.

The Lebanese army says some Hezbollah buildings are gone. Hezbollah says its fighters have left certain areas. The army says it has met its first goals. However, there is still much work to do. This includes clearing old bombs and dealing with tunnels.

Israel is not sure if the disarmament will work. The Israeli Prime Minister's office said it is a good start. But they think it is not enough. They are still worried that Hezbollah is rearming with help from Iran. Reports say the Prime Minister may use more military action.

The Lebanese government disagrees with Israel. They say Israeli attacks make it hard for the army to disarm groups. The situation is complicated by other groups in the area. The next few weeks will show if the army can control the area. It will also show if fighting can stop.
