Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine, suffered a very serious air attack recently. Russian forces used drones and missiles to attack important buildings for civilians. This was one of the worst attacks the city has seen in months.
The attack caused many problems. Sadly, at least three people died and twenty-nine were hurt, with some in a very serious condition. The attack mainly targeted energy facilities, causing large power cuts in the western parts of the city. This left many people without electricity.
At the same time, an important change happened in the government. Andriy Yermak, the Chief of Staff for the President, resigned from his job. He left because of a corruption investigation related to buying supplies for the army. It is not clear if his resignation and the attack are connected, but it shows that Ukraine is facing problems from outside and inside the country.
Military experts believe Russia is focusing on energy targets as winter gets closer. They think this is to make life harder for civilians and lower their spirits. Emergency workers tried all night to fix the power, but officials say it could take days. Hospitals are using backup power, and the city has opened shelters for people who lost their homes or power.
This attack is the seventh major one on Kyiv this month. While Ukraine's air defense systems have saved many lives, the continued attacks are a difficult test for the people and the city.
