Zelenskyy Visits Cyprus for EU Support

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy visited Cyprus recently. This trip was important. Cyprus is now leading the Council of the European Union. The visit aimed to get more European support for Ukraine. It also focused on helping Ukraine defend itself.

President Zelenskyy met with Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides. They talked at the Presidential Palace. Later, there was a big meeting. President Zelenskyy, President Christodoulides, and EU leaders Ursula von der Leyen and Charles Michel were there. They discussed Ukraine's EU membership. They also talked about security against Russia. They discussed sanctions on Moscow. Ukraine's air defence and drone making were also discussed.

The visit happened at a good time. Cyprus just started its EU Council presidency. President Zelenskyy wanted to highlight Ukraine's need to join the EU. He said, "We want to make good progress now." President Christodoulides said, "Cyprus supports Ukraine's independence."

President Zelenskyy also met Archbishop Georgios. This showed the visit had many parts. The EU leaders were there too. This showed the world is still focused on the war. Cyprus understands Ukraine's struggle. It has also faced occupation.

This visit will affect EU decisions. Cyprus is now leading the Council. They will talk about supporting Ukraine. Security help and defence cooperation are important. Ukraine needs better air defence and drones. The visit hopes to lead to real help. This will help Ukraine stay strong and join the EU.
