A terrible fire happened at the Le Constellation ski bar. It is in Crans-Montana, a ski town. Sadly, 40 people died. Also, 116 people were hurt.

The fire caused a big problem. It showed that safety rules were not followed. Police are now looking into the fire. Sparklers are thought to be the cause. This is very sad for the town.

People are worried about safety. Le Constellation was not checked for five years. This is against the rules. Rules say public places must be checked every year.

The Mayor of Crans-Montana, Nicolas Feraud, said they are sorry. He said they will take responsibility. However, he could not explain why checks were missed.

Sparklers may have touched the ceiling. This made the fire grow fast. Now, sparklers are banned in public places. All 128 places in Crans-Montana will be checked.

There were not enough people to do the checks. Only five people checked 10,000 buildings. This was too much work. Families of victims want answers.

Prosecutors have started a criminal investigation. They will look at what happened. Local officials might be in trouble. This fire has hurt the community. Safety rules need to be better.
