A sad event happened in Larnaca, Cyprus. A 78-year-old man has died. Four other people are in the hospital. They all drank water from a home water cooler. Police are investigating this serious problem. They want to know why these people got sick.
The trouble started last Saturday. The dead man's wife filled their water cooler. Soon after, she felt very sick. Her husband was found dead hours later. He showed signs of poisoning. The next day, people came to the house for a meeting. Three guests drank water from the same cooler. They also became very ill. They were taken to Larnaca General Hospital.
Charalambos Charilaou from Okypy gave good news. He said the sick people are better. One person no longer needs a breathing machine. The others are getting better each day. He said tests are happening now. The results will take some time.
Larnaca police are looking into everything. They took samples from the water cooler. They also took samples from the dead man. These samples are at the State Chemical Laboratory. The lab will check for harmful substances. Results are expected next week. A post-mortem will also happen for the dead man.
