Ukraine Peace Talks Face New Problems

Ukrainian President Zelensky said a peace deal was almost ready. He felt hopeful for the New Year. However, Russia made new accusations. Russia said Ukraine attacked with drones. This made Russia think about stopping peace talks. It made the peace efforts more difficult.

Zelensky explained that most of the peace plan was ready. This plan was to end the war. He said the last ten percent was very important. It would decide if there would be peace. It would also protect Ukraine's land. Zelensky said Ukraine wanted peace very much. But they would not give up their country. He said giving up the Donbas region was not possible. It would mean Ukraine would not exist.

These words came after President Putin's New Year message. Putin sounded confident about his army. He believed Russia would win. Then, Russia showed what it said was proof. They said Ukraine sent drones to Putin's home. Russia called these attacks a big problem. They said they would need to rethink peace talks.

Ukraine said it did not attack with drones. They said Russia's claims were not true. The European Union diplomat agreed with Ukraine. She said Russia was trying to trick people. She thought Russia wanted to stop peace talks. She said these accusations were to make people confused. This made it harder to find peace. Zelensky's hopeful words and Russia's angry words made the situation unclear. Russia may stop talking because of the drone problem. This shows how unsure things are.
