Tornado Damages Christmas Village, But It Will Still Open

A strong tornado hit the mountain village of Pano Platres on Monday evening. It caused a lot of damage to the Christmas Village. The tornado damaged the temporary tents and stalls. However, the organisers say the popular attraction will open as planned. The strong winds broke the fabric roofs and sides of the festive chalets. These were meant to look like a winter wonderland.

The damage looked bad, but the village will still be open. The main wooden frames of the stalls were strong. They did not break completely. This means repairs can start quickly. Workers are helping the organisers to fix the damaged parts. The community leaders promise that everything will be repaired soon. They want to make sure visitors have no problems.

An official statement said, "The strong winds damaged some tents but did not stop the village from operating." This shows the damage was only in the Christmas Village area. The community leader also said, "Strong winds only affected the Christmas Village. The rest of the village is fine." This is important because the rest of Pano Platres is not damaged.

The Pano Platres Christmas Village is a big event for Cyprus. It was supposed to be open from January 2nd to January 4th. The tornado was a big problem for these dates. But because of fast repairs, the village will open as planned. Organisers want people to visit. Your visit will support the community. This event shows how unpredictable weather can be. The community's spirit to keep the celebration going is strong. They invite everyone to share their winter festival.
