Police Operations Lead to Many Arrests in Cyprus

Police in Cyprus did many operations last weekend. They arrested many people and gave out many tickets. The operations looked at different crimes. These included bad driving, not having the right papers to be in the country, and having illegal drugs. The police worked with the Aliens and Immigration Service. This shows they want to keep people safe and follow the law.

The police checked many drivers. They checked 572 drivers. 49 drivers were caught driving after drinking alcohol. Two drivers were caught driving after taking drugs. Police also gave 258 tickets for other driving problems. They took eight cars to check them closely. This shows they are serious about safe driving.

The operations also checked people's immigration status. Police found 31 people from outside the EU. These people did not have permission to live in Cyprus. They will be sent back to their countries. This shows the police are watching the borders.

In Nicosia, three people went to court. They were arrested for having drugs. Police found a small amount of cannabis. The people said they took drugs together. The drugs will be tested in a lab.

Police also arrested one person in Limassol. This person is suspected of hurting someone badly. Another person in Nicosia refused to take a breath test. These arrests show the police deal with many different problems.

The police will do more traffic checks. This will happen during the holiday season. It will be from December 20 to January 6. More cars are on the road during holidays. Police want to stop speeding and drunk driving. They will be on main roads to make travel safer.
