Many former soldiers from Colombia may now be fighting in Sudan. They reportedly joined Sudan's Rapid Support Forces (RSF). This group is accused of many bad things. The RSF is said to be involved in terrible acts. These include violence against women and killing many civilians. This is happening during the war in Sudan. At the same time, Colombia has its own problems with violence. Recently, the ELN group killed soldiers.
Colombian people might be helping the RSF because of a company. This company is called Zeuz Global. It is based in the United Kingdom. The United States government has put sanctions on some people. These people are linked to this network. They are Colombian and live in Britain. The sanctions were announced on December 9th. They show this fighting is happening internationally. The Colombian soldiers may have helped the RSF in important battles. They might have helped capture the city of El Fasher.
This news is worrying. It happens when Colombia is not very secure. The ELN group recently attacked a military base. This was near the border with Venezuela. They used drones and bombs. Sadly, seven Colombian soldiers died. Thirty others were hurt. Colombia's Defence Minister strongly condemned this attack. It shows that peace talks are still difficult.
The situation is also made harder by drug problems. Colombia produces a lot of cocaine. The US government has put sanctions on Colombia's president. He was accused of not doing enough about drug gangs. This makes it harder for Colombia. It is difficult to have peace at home and be trusted by other countries. The recent violence makes it harder for Colombia to find lasting peace and safety.
