Protests in Morocco Lead to Rights Concerns

Demonstrations in Morocco have caused serious worries. Human rights groups say authorities have treated protesters badly. They report many people were arrested without good reason. Some were treated poorly in custody. Others faced unfair trials.

Young people, especially Gen Z, were protesting about healthcare and education problems. Security forces used strong actions against them. This has led to international criticism.

The Moroccan Association of Human Rights (AMDH) and Amnesty International have shared worrying reports. They say many people were arrested. Some stayed in jail for a long time. The arrests were often without clear reasons.

Reports also mention mistreatment in police stations. Detainees say they were beaten. They did not get enough food or water. Some had serious injuries. Female protesters faced harassment.

The strong response may have caused deaths. Near Agadir, protests reportedly led to fatalities. Security forces are blamed. Some people were shot. Authorities said protesters attacked a police station. Thousands are now facing charges.

The legal process is also being questioned. Critics say there was no legal help for some. Investigations into abuse claims were not good enough. Many people received long prison sentences. This makes people doubt the justice system. These events happen as Morocco gets ready to host a big sports event.
