Cyprus Village Becomes Green Model

Kato Pyrgos in Cyprus is changing. It is leading a new plan for green towns. This project has nine big green projects. These projects will help the villages be more eco-friendly.

The area wants to be better. Many people are helping. Five villages have formed an energy group. Over 200 people want to join. More than 100 people want solar panels. This shows they like clean energy.

A big grant of €1.8 million is helping these energy projects. The Cyprus Energy Agency is studying the first phase. A new recycling centre is also open. It is connected to the power. Funding for it is secured until 2029.

The project also helps with water. A temporary water treatment station is being built. It will help hotels and police. The Nicosia Waste Management Board will manage it. The cost for treating water will be low. Hotels and others will pay for this.

There are plans for a permanent water system. This will serve all the villages. Money is planned for this in 2026. This shows they think about the future.

Important government visitors saw the progress. The Deputy Minister and other ministers visited. They think this project is important. It can be a model for other places in Cyprus. Kato Pyrgos is showing how to be green. This helps the area and its people.
