Neo-Nazi Group Alleged at Cyprus School

Reports suggest a neo-Nazi group may be active at Vergina High School. State television shared these concerns on Friday. The problem is thought to have been growing for two years. More than one hundred students might be part of this secret group. They may be teaching extremist ideas and trying to find new members.

Loizos Constantinou, who leads parents' associations, is very worried. He believes many students are involved. This suggests recruitment efforts might be happening from outside Cyprus. Some students have reportedly visited Greece. They may have met with known extremist groups there. This international connection worries education officials and police.

The group's actions at the school are disturbing. Students have allegedly made Nazi salutes. They have also shown swastika symbols at school. Extremist messages have been shared online and in physical form. Some students have reportedly intimidated other students. This creates a fearful and intolerant environment. Police are investigating social media accounts.

Vergina High School plans to take action against students involved. The Ministry of Education is aware and is working on solutions. They must address student behaviour and extremist ideas. Stones were recently thrown at students at an event. This shows a tense situation at the school.

The presence of such a group raises questions. It makes us think about school safety and extremist influence. Cyprus has strict laws against racism and violence. Students involved could face serious legal problems. This event reminds us that radicalisation is a real threat. Schools must remain watchful.
