Famous War Reporter Peter Arnett Dies at 91

Peter Arnett, a famous journalist known for his brave reporting from wars, has died. He was 91 years old. His daughter said he died at his home in California on Wednesday. He had prostate cancer. Arnett had a long career of about 45 years. He reported from 17 different wars.

Arnett was born in New Zealand. He started his career with the Associated Press. He became very famous for his reporting on the Vietnam War. He covered this war for many years. His work on Vietnam won him a Pulitzer Prize in 1966. His stories showed people the real dangers of war. He once said bullets came very close to him.

Later, Arnett worked for CNN. He became well-known for his reports from Baghdad during the Gulf War. He broadcast live during bombings. He often said he heard explosions nearby. This showed how dangerous his job was. He was a very recognizable TV journalist. Many young reporters were inspired by him.

He reported from many conflict zones around the world. This included places like El Salvador and the Middle East. Arnett was not afraid to go to difficult places. Early in his career, he swam across a river to send his report from Laos. This showed his strong dedication.

Arnett also made TV documentaries and wrote books. He gave public talks about his experiences. He always tried to get the full story. This sometimes caused problems. However, he always wanted to understand things deeply. Peter Arnett's death is a big loss for war reporting. He leaves behind an important record of history.
