EU Plans Big Aid for Ukraine

EU leaders are talking about a large money plan for Ukraine. This plan wants to give Ukraine billions of euros. The money will come from Russian money frozen in Europe. This will help Ukraine's army and its economy. Ukraine needs this help very soon. If not, its money could run out in a few months. The EU plans to use loans from this frozen Russian money. Russia is very unhappy about this idea.

Much of Russia's money in the EU is with a company called Euroclear. This company is in Belgium. Russia says this plan is bad. It has also started a lawsuit against Euroclear. This makes the situation more serious. The EU's plan shows Ukraine's big problems.

Leaders are also trying to stop the war. Former US President Donald Trump thinks peace is possible. He said a peace deal is "closer now than we have been ever." But Russia does not agree. Russian officials say a European peace army in Ukraine is not acceptable.

US and Russian officials will meet soon in Miami. They will talk about peace. However, President Vladimir Putin recently said bad things about Europe. He called Europe "total degradation." He also called Ukraine's European friends "European piglets." He thinks they want to get rich from Russia's problems.

An EU official said they are "cautiously optimistic" about the money plan. This means they are hopeful but not very hopeful. Many things need to be decided. Using Russia's frozen money is important for Ukraine. It will help Ukraine fight and survive. It will also affect world money and EU-Russia relations. Russia's lawsuits and strong words mean peace will be hard. The results of these talks will change the war.
