Tragedy Strikes Bondi Beach During Celebration

Bondi Beach in Sydney had a terrible event on Sunday night. A shooting happened during a Hanukkah party. At least fifteen people died, and many others were hurt. One person attacked alone. This happy event became very sad. Police say it was terrorism. They think the attacker chose the Jewish community on purpose.

The attacker used a gun on the busy beach. People were very brave. Some people tried to stop the gunman. Boris and Sofia Gurman, an older couple, tried to take the gun. Their family is sad but proud of them.

Ahmed al Ahmed was also a hero. He tackled one of the attackers and took his gun. The Prime Minister said Ahmed is an inspiration. Reuven Morrison, another man, threw things and shouted. This helped distract the attackers. His daughter said he came from a place where Jewish people were not safe.

The shooting lasted about ten minutes. Police met the gunmen on a bridge. There was a big gunfight. Police shot both gunmen. One died, and the other is very sick. Two police officers were also badly hurt.

This is the worst shooting in Australia for many years. The Prime Minister visited the hurt people. He said the country supports the community. People are praising the bravery of civilians and police. However, some people are asking about security before the event. The investigation is still happening. The community is sad and starting to heal.
