Trump Sues BBC for $10 Billion

Donald Trump has started a big legal case. He is suing the BBC in Florida. He wants $10 billion from them. Trump says the BBC defamed him. This means they said untrue things about him. He also says they broke Florida's laws. The case is about a documentary. Trump says it changed his words from a speech. This speech was before the January 6th event.

The documentary is called "Panorama." Trump's lawyers say the BBC edited his speech. They say the editing made it look like he told people to be violent. The lawsuit says the BBC put together phrases like "march on the Capitol" and "fight like hell." They left out parts where he talked about peaceful protest. Trump says this was a trick. It made people think he wanted violence.

Trump said, "I'm suing the BBC for putting words in my mouth." He thinks they used technology to change his words. His lawyers say this hurt his reputation. The lawsuit has two parts. One is for defamation. The other is for breaking Florida's trade laws. He wants $5 billion for each part.

This is a big step for Trump. He often argues with news groups. He thinks they are unfair to him. This is his first big lawsuit against a foreign news company. The court is in South Florida. This is near where he lives.

The BBC has now apologized to Trump. They said they made a mistake. The BBC admitted the editing made a wrong impression. This might help Trump's case. However, the full legal result is not known yet. The BBC's admission is important.
