Netanyahu Stays Quiet on US Jet Plan for Turkey

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has not spoken publicly about a US plan. The US wants to give advanced F-35 fighter jets to Turkey. Experts think Netanyahu is doing this to keep his own government strong. He has been quiet for about a year. This quiet approach avoids conflict with the US government. It also helps prevent disagreements within his government. This is important because elections are expected in 2026.

The region is very unstable right now. Russia recently attacked Ukrainian port buildings. This attack damaged ships, including one from Turkey. Netanyahu’s silence on the jet deal is because his government is weak. Some ministers have strong ideas about national safety. If he disagrees with the US openly, his government might fall.

Because of this, Israel and the US seem like close allies. However, Israel is worried about Turkey's actions. The situation in the Black Sea has also gotten worse. Last week, Russia attacked two ports in Ukraine. The attack used drones and missiles. It damaged port buildings and three ships linked to Turkey.

One ship, the *M/V CENK T*, was hit directly. A fire started on the ship. At least one person was hurt. Ukraine said this was a planned attack on important civilian buildings. These events put Netanyahu in a difficult position. The attack on Turkish ships might make Turkey want more military equipment, like the F-35. For now, Netanyahu is staying silent. He is choosing to keep his government stable. However, as problems in the region grow, his quiet approach might not last.
