Missing Boat Found Safe Near Cyprus

A big search for a missing boat ended well on Wednesday. The private Israeli sailing boat was found safe. It had been lost for several days. The boat had four Israeli people on board. They were found about 30 miles from Limassol, Cyprus. Everyone on the boat was okay. They did not need any medical help. This was a happy end to a worrying search.

The boat left Ashdod, Israel, on December 2. It was going to Crete, a Greek island. They lost contact soon after. Storm Byron brought very bad weather to the area. Greek authorities told Cyprus about the missing boat on December 9. Then, the Cyprus Joint Rescue Coordination Centre started a search. They used a plan called "Nearchos."

This search showed how countries can work together. Cyprus, Greece, and Israel worked together. The Cyprus JRCC used planes and told other ships about the search. A research ship saw the missing sailboat near Limassol at about 5:30 PM on December 10. The Cyprus JRCC said the people were "in good health." They did not need help.

The boat had engine problems. The engine stopped working. The people had to use only sails. This made them go very slowly. This might be why they lost contact. Officials said the boat did not send a distress signal. Three people were Arab Israelis. The captain was from Haifa.

The crisis is over. However, Israel will now look into this. They want to know why the boat left Ashdod. They will check if the boat should have sailed with Storm Byron warnings. The safe rescue shows that international help is important. It also shows that checking risks before sailing is very important. The boat is now sailing slowly to Haifa, Israel.
