Bad Weather Causes Accidents and Delays on Cyprus Roads

This morning, bad weather has caused several traffic accidents and big delays on major roads in Cyprus. The most serious problem is on the Limassol-Nicosia highway. There was a crash involving several cars. One lane of the road is now closed, creating long traffic jams for morning drivers.

Heavy rain is making driving conditions very dangerous across the island. Police are warning all drivers to be very careful. The rain is making it hard to see, and the roads are very wet and slippery. Officials say drivers must slow down, leave more space between cars, and use their headlights.

The big crash on the Limassol-Nicosia highway involved three cars. Police, firefighters, and ambulances all came to help. They had to close one lane to clear the cars and investigate. Now, all traffic is using only one lane, so the delays are very long. Police are there now, directing the cars.

In another accident, a single car turned over on a road near Kumyalı. The driver, who was the only person in the car, had to be helped out by emergency teams. The driver had some minor injuries and was taken to the hospital. Police are still finding out why the car left the road.

Because of these problems, people traveling between Limassol and Nicosia should expect very long journey times. Police advise drivers to use different roads if they can. They also repeat that everyone must drive with extra care until the heavy rain stops. This situation shows how quickly bad weather can make roads unsafe and cause major delays.
