Storm Byron brought big problems to Cyprus. The weather was very bad. The Meteorological Service gave a yellow warning for Sunday. This was because of heavy rain and strong thunderstorms. The storm started on Friday night. It brought strong winds and heavy rain. Some people think there were tornadoes.

The storm caused many problems. Events were cancelled. Buildings were damaged. Important things like power lines were affected. This showed how strong the storm was. A low-pressure system moved over the sea. This made the thunderstorms very strong. The storms first came from the west. Then they moved to the east.

The storms brought heavy rain and hail. They also brought strong winds. Waterspouts were seen near Paphos. The highest mountains might even get snow. In one village, strong winds knocked down trees. One tree fell on some buildings. Another tree hit power lines. This caused a fire and a power cut. Electricity was fixed after two hours. A tornado also hit a power station. It caused damage to the buildings there.

Workers are trying to fix the damage. The storm also stopped daily life. Christmas events in Limassol were cancelled. This was to keep people safe. The weather is still not good. The warning for Sunday says there will be more heavy rain. Some areas might get a lot of rain. People should be careful. They should avoid travel if they can. They must follow official advice. Storm Byron is still moving across the island.
