Our planet has an energy problem. It is taking in much more heat than it sends out. This is making oceans very hot. Ice is melting faster everywhere. The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) shared a new report. Scientists are worried about this. El Niño is coming soon. This weather event could make things even hotter.
The WMO's data shows Earth is getting warmer. The last eleven years were the hottest ever. This shows heat is building up. In 2025, the world was 1.43°C warmer than before industrial times. 2024 was hotter because of El Niño. Then La Niña cooled things a little in 2025. However, 2025 was still one of the top three hottest years. This shows the warming trend is very strong.
Greenhouse gases cause this heat problem. Humans release these gases, like carbon dioxide. These gases trap heat in the air. They stop heat from going into space. Our planet keeps more heat. Oceans take in this extra heat. This makes ocean temperatures rise. It also melts ice sheets and glaciers.
The UN Secretary General, António Guterres, warned us. He said, "Planet Earth is being pushed beyond its limits." He also said, "Every key climate indicator is flashing red." He wants us to use less fossil fuels. We need to use more renewable energy. Climate, energy, and safety are linked. Scientists agree. Warming is happening as predicted. However, it might be happening faster now.
El Niño is coming soon. This is a natural event. It warms the Pacific Ocean. This usually makes the whole world hotter. With current warming, El Niño could cause very extreme heat. It could also make floods, droughts, and storms worse. The WMO report is important. We need to act now to stop the worst climate changes. We need to work together quickly.
