Wolt Riders Strike in Limassol

Wolt delivery riders in Limassol have stopped working. They are protesting because they have many serious problems. These workers are important for the delivery service. They want help now because their pay is getting lower. Also, their work is becoming more dangerous.

The strike started on Friday. The riders are unhappy with how they are paid. Their pay has gone down since 2021. This makes it hard for them to live. They also feel unsafe, especially at night. Riders worry about being harassed or attacked. Some riders have had their bikes damaged after their deliveries were taken. These problems are happening more often to delivery workers in Cyprus.

There is a contract for riders working with other companies. However, this contract does not help the striking riders. The riders are not named, which may mean they do not have good ways to talk to Wolt. They have stopped working to get attention and make things better.

The government has tried to help delivery workers. They know there have been many attacks this year. The government will have more police in dangerous areas. They will also start a system for riders to easily call for help. Wolt says it is working with the government on violence and racism. They have been talking for two years with many riders.

But the striking riders do not think these government actions are enough. They still worry about fair pay and their safety. Customers in Limassol may have to wait longer for deliveries. If Wolt does not listen, the strike could spread to other cities. A rider spokesperson said, "Drivers are not only stopping work but also raising their voices." The next few days will show if things get better or worse.
