Storm Damages Fish Shelter Project

A strong storm caused big problems for a marine construction project. The project is near Pentakomo in Limassol. Very strong winds and rough seas made several boats break away from where they were tied. These boats then moved towards the coast. Authorities and project workers had to act quickly.

The boats were part of building a new shelter for fish. The bad weather started suddenly and became very strong. The wind and waves pushed hard on the boats. The ropes holding the boats could not stand the pressure. This caused the boats to move to different places in the sea. One boat was found near the Mari naval base. This was far from where it started.

Another boat got stuck on rocks. It was in a difficult and dangerous spot. A third boat was pushed further along the coast. It ended up near Governor's Beach. This popular beach is usually for tourists. The loss of these important boats has stopped the fish shelter project. The Department of Fisheries and Marine Research is in charge of this project.

When people heard about the loose boats, help was sent quickly. Emergency teams and project workers went to the places where the boats were found. Their main job was to get the boats back safely. They needed to bring them back to the project site or a safe place. Working in the difficult sea was a big challenge.

We do not know yet if the boats are damaged. We also do not know if the sea is harmed. The main problem now for the authorities is moving the boats back. This will be a big job. This event shows the dangers of building things in the sea. Weather can change very fast. The fish shelter project was meant to help fish. Now, it has a new problem to solve.
