Sudan Conflict: Drone Attacks Harm Civilians

Recent days have seen more drone attacks in Sudan. These attacks are hitting civilian places. Communities in White Nile and western Sudan are suffering. Drones with bombs have hit schools and markets. Many people have died and many more are hurt.

In Shukeiri village, a school and a health centre were destroyed. Reports say seventeen people died. Most were schoolgirls and teachers. Ten other people were injured. Three young girls have very serious injuries. Health officials say the RSF attacked this place.

Another attack happened at Adikong market. This is a busy trading place. At least eleven people died there. Many others were injured, including children. The bomb caused a fire that made things worse. Doctors Without Borders treated over twenty people. Seven of them were children.

More than two hundred civilians have died from drone strikes recently. The West Kordofan area has been badly affected. At least 152 civilians died from SAF drone strikes. Earlier this month, attacks in Al-Muglad killed about fifty people.

The fighting between the SAF and RSF is causing a big problem for Sudan. The use of drones in crowded areas is bad. The UN Human Rights Chief is very sad about this. He said drones are still used in populated areas.

These drone attacks cause deaths. They also stop important services. This makes the humanitarian situation worse. Attacking civilian areas is against international law. Civilians are not safe in Sudan.
