Last week, Cyprus successfully brought home 1,181 people from a Middle Eastern area with growing problems. The last plane landed in Larnaca on Wednesday evening. It carried 149 people from Dubai. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and its embassies managed this important rescue.
The operation helped Cypriot citizens and residents leave the region. It also helped people from other European Union countries. Flights left from Dubai, Dammam in Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Qatar. These places are near the difficult situation. The eight flights were a big success for Cyprus. It showed their strong care for people's safety.
The fighting in the Middle East got worse. This was why the people needed to come home quickly. The Cyprus crisis management centre worked with diplomats. The diplomats helped find people needing help. They also made sure people could get to the airport safely.
Another flight from Dammam brought 82 people to Cyprus. People at Larnaca airport were very happy to see the arrivals. Their trips were full of worry. Many different European citizens were on these flights. Cyprus helped them travel safely back to Europe.
The main rescue is now finished. However, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will still help any Cypriots in the conflict zone. They said their embassies are still open. They will help any citizen who wants to come home. This shows Cyprus is still responsible for its people abroad. This big operation showed Cyprus is ready for problems.
