A military operation against a cartel leader caused a lot of violence in Mexico. The operation targeted Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, known as "El Mencho." He leads the powerful Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG). The raid reportedly injured "El Mencho" while he was being flown for medical care. Cartel members reacted with violence on Sunday. They blocked roads with burning cars. This stopped transportation and made people scared. Armed people also drove a car into a prison in Puerto Vallarta. They helped 23 prisoners escape during the confusion. The attacks also hit National Guard sites. Sadly, at least 34 cartel gunmen, 25 National Guard members, and 23 escaped inmates died. Over 70 people died in a few days.
