Supreme Court Changes US-China Trade Rules

The Supreme Court made an important decision about trade. It said some tariffs on China were not allowed. These tariffs were put in place using a special law. Now, the US government will change its trade policy with China. The Trump administration plans to use a different law. This new law allows a 15% tariff. This shows there are still trade problems between the two countries.

The court decided the government used too much power for these tariffs. So, many trade rules are now cancelled. The government used these tariffs to ask China for changes. They wanted changes on trade amounts and security. After the decision, the US dollar went down a little. Gold prices went up. Investors felt less sure about things.

However, there is something surprising happening. The US government also allowed Nvidia to sell advanced AI chips to China. This seems to go against trying to limit China's technology. Some people think this is to affect how AI grows in the world. Experts say these changes make investors think again about risks. Money from tariff refunds might also affect the government's budget.

At the same time, energy policies are very different. The US is using less fossil fuel. Drilling is stopping in some areas. This is because it takes a long time to develop projects. It also costs more money. China, however, is using more coal. They plan to produce much more coal next year. China is also storing natural gas. This means China will need less imported natural gas. China is focusing on coal and gas for cost and security reasons. This is very different from US policy.
