Ukraine Fights On, Leaders Show Support

As the fourth anniversary of the war in Ukraine neared, President Zelenskiy spoke with strength. He said Ukraine had protected its freedom and country. Russian forces still attack Ukraine. They target cities and important buildings. However, Zelenskiy stated Russia did not achieve its first goals. The war is very sad. Many soldiers and people have died. The war will continue for a long time.

European leaders visited Kyiv. They met President Zelenskiy to show they are with Ukraine. This support is important now. US help has become less. Former President Trump also spoke about Ukraine's peace talks. Efforts to make peace have not worked well. Ukraine will not give up its land. Russia wants Ukraine to stop wanting to join NATO. Russia also wants Ukraine to have fewer soldiers. Ukraine thinks these demands are not okay.

New reports show recruitment in Africa. President Ramaphosa of South Africa thanked President Putin. Putin helped 17 South Africans return home. These people were told they would be bodyguards. Instead, they were sent to fight. South Africa is investigating this problem. They want to find out how people were tricked.

Also, intelligence in Kenya is worrying. Over a thousand Kenyans may be fighting for Russia. They were promised good pay and Russian citizenship. Some Kenyan groups might be working with the Russian embassy. The Russian embassy denies this. Kenyan groups are looking into these claims. They want to stop people from being sent to fight.
