Pakistan Strikes Afghanistan Amid Border Tensions

Pakistan has started a military operation in Afghanistan. The Pakistani army launched airstrikes into Afghan territory. This has caused a big diplomatic problem. It also puts a fragile security agreement at risk.

The Pakistani military said they targeted camps. These camps were used by armed groups. These groups are blamed for attacks in Pakistan. However, Afghanistan’s Ministry of Defence disagrees. They say the bombs hit civilian buildings. This included a school and houses. Many people, especially women and children, were killed or injured.

These airstrikes happened in border provinces. Pakistan is unhappy with the Taliban government. Islamabad believes Afghan authorities give shelter to militants. Pakistan showed evidence linking fighters in Afghanistan to recent violence. This includes a big suicide bombing in Islamabad. Pakistan has asked Afghanistan to stop attacks from their territory. They say their requests were ignored. Pakistan says it must protect its citizens.

Pakistan called the strikes "intelligence-based." They said seven militant facilities were attacked. However, Afghan officials reported a different story. In Nangarhar province, seventeen people died. Many others were wounded. The Afghan Ministry of Defence said a school and homes were hit. This shows very different views. It could also cause a humanitarian crisis.

This action by Pakistan could break a ceasefire. A ceasefire was agreed after border fights. This violence across borders hurts civilians. It makes the region less stable. The world is watching this situation. More problems could happen in this unstable region. The future depends on talks. Or, this action could lead to more fighting.
