This December, something special is coming to the coastal town of Peyia. A five-star hotel, the Cap St Georges Hotel & Resort, is working with the local community to create a big Christmas village. It will be in the historic square next to the Church of Saint George. The village will open on December 6th as part of a "Winter Fest 2025" program. The goal is to attract tourists from abroad and from Cyprus during the holiday season.
Cyprus is usually very quiet in winter after the busy summer. The organizers hope this new Christmas village will bring more visitors and help local businesses. They chose the town square, not the hotel's own land, because they want to connect with the local culture and community.
The Christmas village will have many things to see and do. There will be a busy market where local people can sell handmade gifts and food. Visitors can also eat at a special restaurant and enjoy seasonal snacks and drinks. In the evenings, there will be live music and games for families. The hotel is also offering special holiday stays, so people can enjoy the whole experience.
I think this is a very good idea for the town. It will help hotels and shops during a quiet time. For everyone, it creates a new and exciting place to celebrate Christmas, which Cyprus didn't have before. If it is successful, it could become a yearly tradition. This first Christmas village will be a test, but it could make western Cyprus a popular winter destination.
