Peace Talks End Without Big Agreement

Peace talks about the war in Ukraine finished this week. Representatives from Russia, Ukraine, and the United States met. They wanted to stop the fighting. However, they did not reach a major agreement. The main problem is about land. This has caused the war for a long time. The talks lasted more than 1,400 days. They did not solve the big disagreements.

The important meeting happened on Wednesday. It was for two hours. Both sides said the talks were hard. Russia's negotiator, Vladimir Medinsky, said it was "difficult." Ukraine's leader, Volodymyr Zelensky, agreed. There was no big deal. But some people said the talks were "businesslike." This means they talked in a serious way.

The biggest problem was about land. Russia wants to control some land in eastern Ukraine. Ukraine does not agree. This stopped an immediate ceasefire. However, they did talk about military things. They discussed where the fighting lines are. They also talked about watching any ceasefire. Some agreement might have been found here. But the land issue was too big.

The United States helped with the talks. Envoy Steve Witkoff was there. A White House person said talks will continue. Both sides want to find peace. They will keep talking. This shows that diplomacy is important. A solution from only fighting is not easy.

After the main meeting, Russia and Ukraine talked alone. This meeting was for about 90 minutes. It shows that the talks are complicated. Another meeting will happen soon. This means they are still talking. However, peace is not here yet. The stalled talks are important for the war.
