Young people in Cyprus use artificial intelligence (AI) tools a lot. They use them more than other young people in the European Union. New data from Eurostat shows this. In 2025, 76.5% of Cypriot youth (16-24 years old) use AI apps often. This is much higher than the EU average of 63.8%.
This shows that young Cypriots are good with technology. They are happy to use new digital tools. We do not know exactly why they use AI so much. However, the numbers show AI is part of their daily lives. They use it for school and for fun.
There is a big difference in AI use between young people and older people. Cypriot youth use AI almost twice as much as the general EU population (16-74 years old). The general population uses AI at 32.7%. So, AI is used more by young people.
Cyprus is high in AI use for young people. Greece is the highest with 83.5%. Estonia is next with 82.8%. The Czech Republic is at 78.5%. Spain and Portugal are also high, like Cyprus at 76.5%. However, Germany (52.7%), Bulgaria (50%), and Romania (44.1%) use AI less.
Some young Cypriots do not use AI. Many, 38%, think they do not need AI tools. Another 8% do not know AI apps exist. Only 3% do not know how to use them. Few people, 1%, worry about privacy.
AI is used a lot in education. Students use AI for school work. They use it to help with research. They also use it to write essays. AI tools are becoming very important for school.
This change is important for the future of education. Young Cypriots are good at using AI. This will help Cyprus in the digital world. Schools and leaders need to think about how to teach with AI. Young people in Cyprus are leading the way with AI.
