Sudan Conflict Worsens with Drone Attacks

Sudan's conflict is getting worse. The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) are using more drones. These attacks hurt many civilians. They also stop important aid from reaching people. North Kordofan province has seen many bad incidents. A drone strike hit a car with families. Twenty-four people died. This included eight children and two babies.

The fight between the army and RSF started in April 2023. It has caused much violence. Now, the RSF is deliberately attacking civilian places. This has caused strong criticism. The United Nations says this breaks international law. These attacks are not accidental. A World Food Programme (WFP) convoy was hit. One person died and others were hurt. A mosque was also attacked. Two children died and thirteen were injured.

These attacks are making the hunger crisis worse. They destroy food aid. This means more people are hungry. The UN humanitarian coordinator, Denise Brown, is worried. She said attacks stop aid from reaching hungry people. This is very bad for those who need help.

The attacks are happening in many places. This includes South Kordofan and West Kordofan. Khartoum is also affected. A WFP warehouse was hit. This makes it harder to deliver supplies. Attacking mosques and aid convoys shows no respect for life.

A UN spokesperson, Stephane Dujarric, is sad. He said it is a tragedy to keep saying civilians must not be targeted. He noted that places of worship, schools, and hospitals are protected. The attacks also cause shortages of medicine. This hurts the health system.

Millions of people are already homeless. These drone attacks make peace harder. The world must do more. They need to make sure those responsible are held accountable. The crisis in Sudan is growing each day. Targeting children and places of worship is very serious.
