US Peace Plan for Ukraine Gets Russian Response

In an important development, Russian President Vladimir Putin has said an American peace plan could be the starting point to end the war in Ukraine. He said this during a visit to Kyrgyzstan. However, he also gave a strong warning, telling Ukrainian forces to leave areas that Russia now claims. If they do not leave, he said Russia will use its army to make them.

The peace plan was first written by the previous US administration. It has been changed after talks with Ukrainian officials. Some of the most difficult points, like limits on Ukraine's army, have been removed. This shows how hard it is to make a plan that both sides will accept.

Putin's comments are the most positive he has made about a US plan in a long time. He said, "In general, we agree that this can be the basis for future agreements." But his demand for Ukraine to give up land shows that big problems remain.

This news comes as an American diplomat, Steve Witkoff, plans to go to Moscow for more talks. At the same time, the fighting continues. Putin says his army is moving forward faster now, which could help Russia in negotiations.

European countries are watching carefully. They support the US talks but worry about some parts of the early plan. They are also working on their own promises to protect Ukraine's future safety.

The main issue is that Russia and Ukraine want very different things to start a ceasefire. Russia wants to keep the land it has taken. Ukraine says all Russian soldiers must leave first. With the American envoy going to Moscow, people are waiting to see if these new talks can finally start to end the war.
