Limassol is preparing for its famous carnival. It will be even better in 2026. The city also announced the second VIMA Art Fair. These two events will be a great cultural celebration. The carnival is from February 12th to 22nd, 2026. It will bring creativity to the city. People can see funny floats and colourful masks. There will be music too. Organisers want to add new and exciting things.
Amaryllis Kyriakou will be the Carnival Queen for 2026. This is a great honour. She has worked with the carnival for 40 years. She started in 1985. The Mayor, Yiannis Armeftis, said the carnival will be very dynamic. He said it is renewed and better. Events are improved, but old traditions are kept. The Ariones music group performed at the announcement. They made the event very lively.
The VIMA Art Fair will happen soon after. Its second edition is from May 15th to 17th, 2026. There will be a special preview on May 14th. This year’s fair has a project called "The Waves Crashing." It is by curator Kostas Stasinopoulos. The project will explore connection and communication. It uses the idea of waves. The curator said starting a wave means giving up certainty. You do not know where it will end.
"The Waves Crashing" will have an exhibition and live events. There will be films, performances, and talks. The exhibition will be outside at The Warehouse by IT Quarter. This will connect art with its surroundings. VIMA Art Fair wants to be a major art platform. The Limassol Municipality wants to share events across the city. This helps the carnival's 100-year tradition stay strong.
