Saudi Arabia Invests Billions in Syria

Syria and Saudi Arabia have signed big investment deals. These deals are worth billions of dollars. They will help Syria's economy grow a lot. The agreements were announced on Saturday. They cover important areas like planes, energy, buildings, and phones. This is the biggest foreign money Syria has received since US sanctions ended.

The Saudi Elaf fund will give $2 billion. This money is for two airports in Aleppo. A new international airport will be built. This will help the city connect with other places. It will also help business grow. A new low-cost airline is also planned. It might be called "Flynas Syria." The Syrian government will own most of it. It should start flying by late 2026. This will make travel easier.

Money is also coming for the phone and internet business. Almost $1 billion is for new projects. Syria wants to be a main place for digital connections. A big project called SilkLink will lay many cables. These cables will link networks from Asia to Europe. This shows Syria's good location. It can be a key route for data.

There are also agreements for the energy sector. Syria's energy ministry and ACWA Power signed a water deal. ACWA Power is a Saudi company. It knows a lot about making power and cleaning water. Details are not public yet. However, it shows a plan for water and energy needs. These are important for the economy.

These investments are happening for many reasons. They want to rebuild Syria after many years of war. Saudi Arabia wants to help Syria's new leaders. The two countries work well together. Saudi Arabia uses its money to help Syria become stable and strong.

The US envoy, Tom Barrack, likes these deals. He said partnerships in planes, buildings, and phones will help Syria rebuild. Saudi private companies are also investing. This shows Riyadh is serious about Syria's future. These big investments will change Syria. They will help build a stronger economy.
