Cyprus Approves New Migrant Integration Plan

Cyprus has a new plan for migrants. The government approved a National Strategy for Integration. This plan is for the years 2026 to 2029. The Deputy Ministry of Migration and International Protection made the strategy. It will help organize how migrants become part of society. The plan was approved on February 4th.

This new strategy sees integration as a two-way process. It is about respect and shared duties. Both migrants and Cyprus society benefit from good integration. The Deputy Ministry said that integration is an investment. It will help the country's people and economy.

The strategy has three main parts. First, learning the Greek language is very important. It helps people talk and live in Cyprus. Second, finding legal jobs is a priority. This helps migrants work and earn money. Third, understanding Cyprus laws and systems is vital. This helps them know how things work.

The plan also covers daily life. This includes housing, transport, and healthcare. It also offers chances for culture and sports. A main goal is to stop migrants living only in certain areas. This is called "ghettoization." The plan wants to help migrants mix with everyone.

A new Advisory Committee will manage the plan. This committee will have many different people. It will include experts and groups from society. This will help make sure the plan works well.

The main aim is to keep Cyprus society strong. It also wants to help the economy grow. The plan will help legal residents become active citizens. This will help Cyprus develop. The ministry said the plan helps everyone. They will check how well it works.
