Cyprus is getting ready for important parliamentary elections. These will happen on May 24, 2026. A big campaign is helping people register to vote. The Ministry of Interior shared new numbers. As of January 2, 2026, 561,252 people are registered. This shows many people want to participate in the election.
More people registered this year. Since the start of 2026, 775 new voters signed up. Before that, from October 2025 to January 2026, 603 people registered. This shows growing interest in voting. People can register until April 2, 2026.
Elikkos Elia from the Interior Ministry is happy with the numbers. He said, "Precisely 561,252 people are registered to vote." This total includes 837 Turkish Cypriots living in the free areas. This shows the election is for everyone.
The ministry wants young people to vote too. They are sending letters to those who will turn 18 before the election. This helps them learn about voting early. It encourages them to be responsible citizens.
Young people, 25 and under, can register online. They can use the website elections.gov.cy. This makes it easy for them. People over 25 can register in person. They can go to district offices or citizen service centres. Forms are available at these places. You can also get them from the website. The ministry expects many more registrations before the April deadline. A good list of voters is important for fair elections.
