Spy Arrests in Greece and France

Intelligence services have arrested several people. This includes a Greek air force officer and two Chinese citizens in France. They are suspected of sharing secret military information with China. These arrests happened at the same time. This has caused worry in Western defence groups. It shows a big security problem.

In Greece, Colonel Christos Flessas was arrested. He was in charge of a training unit. He had access to secret NATO information. It is believed he took photos of secret papers. He may have used a special electronic device. This device might have sent information to China. He was trying to find other people to join him.

In France, two Chinese men were arrested. They were aged 27 and 29. They had come to France recently. They are accused of trying to get satellite and military data. They put a large antenna in their garden. This was to catch signals. French police took many electronic devices. Two other people from China were also charged.

The timing of these arrests suggests China is working together. Or, China is trying harder to get information. The Greek defence minister spoke about possible leaks earlier. He said rules for important jobs need to be stronger.

These arrests are very important. For Greece, it is a big security problem. For NATO and its allies, it is bad news. China might have important military plans. France is also a target because of its defence industry. This shows foreign spies are still a threat.
