Explosives Missing After Cyprus Military Exercise

A routine military exercise in Cyprus had a surprising problem. 13.6 kilograms of TNT explosives are missing. This happened on Thursday at the Kalo Chorio firing range. Police and security services have started a big investigation. A political party is also very unhappy.

The explosives were for missile destruction. They were supposed to explode during an engineer training. Soldiers were supposed to check the area one hour after the explosion. However, the explosives did not explode. They were also not found in the area.

The Cyprus Defence Ministry confirmed the problem. A spokesperson said authorities were told quickly. Police and security services are working together urgently. The firing range is closed for investigation. They are looking at two ideas. Maybe the explosives exploded by accident. Or, maybe someone took them.

A political party called Akel is worried. They said the situation is "extremely serious." They are concerned about the explosives falling into the wrong hands. Akel warned of "a very dangerous situation" if criminals get them. The party wants answers from the Defence Ministry. They are asking about security during the exercise.

The missing explosives are a big worry. The Defence Ministry and police are on high alert. The explosives could be a danger to the public. Police are asking for help from anyone with information. The investigation is continuing. They want to find out what happened and get the explosives back. This event shows it is hard to keep military materials safe.
