Limassol Becomes Most Expensive City in Cyprus

Recent data shows Limassol is now the most expensive city in Cyprus. This is happening because many foreign businesses have come here. These companies bring employees who earn good salaries. However, this makes it hard for people who live here to afford things. Now, people are asking if Cyprus can continue this way.

Limassol is a busy economic centre. Its success has caused some problems. Many foreign companies and their workers need places to live. This has made rent and house prices go up a lot. People who earn local salaries find it very difficult to find a home. Therefore, some people are moving to nearby villages for cheaper housing.

More tourists and foreign businesses are also using up the island's resources. Cyprus has limited water, and the population is growing. Tourists also use a lot of water. The electricity company is also busy, especially in the summer. Meeting the high demand for power is a challenge.

The cost of living data shows a big difference. The average monthly salary in Limassol is about €2,500. But a one-bedroom apartment costs around €1,338 to rent. This is a big part of a person's income. In Nicosia, a similar apartment costs about half that. Buying a home in Limassol is also much more expensive than in Nicosia.

Cyprus's economy depends a lot on tourism and foreign money. This model is now being looked at again. Experts think this way of making money is not good for the future. It puts pressure on resources and creates a gap between rich and poor. Cyprus needs a better plan for growth that helps everyone and protects its resources.
